I love creating smoothie bowls and experimenting with new ingredients. Over the weekend, I was able to create a completely new and creamy papaya smoothie bowl for breakfast with layers of distinct new flavors. This smoothie is creamy, perfectly sweet with exciting flavors similar to some traditional middle eastern cookies just minus the extra calories and refined sugars. This recipe is just delicious and super easy to make. You also get great amounts of antioxidants, vitamins, enzymes, essential fatty acids and plant based proteins. I bought organic Maradol papayas from the Whole Food Market. If you can’t find organic papayas, make sure you buy non-GMO papayas. Avoid GMO’s all together. I hope you enjoy it!
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 cup Maradol papaya peeled and cut
- 2 tablespoons raw shelled hempseed
- 1 tablespoon whole raw almonds
- 1/4 cup unsweetened coconut milk or your favorite milk of choice
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 Tbsp. rose water
- A touch of stevia powder (optional)
- 1 cup ice
TOPPING:
You can top with desired toppings. Below I have listed a few of my favorite toppings which complements the recipe.
- 1 Tbsp. unsweetened flaked coconut
- 1 Tsp. ground pistachios
- 5 whole raw almonds
DIRECTION:
Place all the ingredients in a blender and blend for 1 minute (Depending on your blender, blend until you obtain the desired consistency) Transfer to a bowl and top with coconut flakes, ground pistachios and almonds.
